The One He Kept for Me

I didn’t grow up in church, I attended on the major holidays but I wasn’t an active member. One day I decided to become more than a bench member if you could even call my attendance at that time that. I had no clue this was God setting me up to meet the one he kept for me. Everyone always wants to know what I did to meet such an amazing man of God or how I knew when it was right. But to be honest I didn’t do anything other than open my mind and heart to what the Lord had for me. I was at a point in my life where I knew I needed to focus on Cheryl and pursue a better relationship with the Lord. And if meeting a man of God came along then so be it, but it wasn’t my main focus. God had plans for me, plans that I would never dream of. I get so tired of hearing everyone say a good man is hard to find. Beloved, please stop looking. I love to tell the story of how I met my husband and I pray it encourages you to continue to seek the Lord first and foremost and find comfort knowing that God is keeping one for you.

When I met Josh he was a tenor on the young adult choir that I was joining. I didn’t know anyone but I knew this was where I was supposed to be so I joined and sang my little soprano heart out. Josh was very timid and not really outspoken which is the complete opposite of me. But something that I now know was the Holy Spirit told me “that’s the man you will marry”. I shrugged it off and thought “yeah okay, I don’t even know that guy is he even single”. You know that saying the way to a girl’s heart is though God? Well in my case the way to this mans heart was through God. I wanted to be closer to God and in finding God’s love for me I also found the love of my life.

I admired his relationship with God so much and the person he was because of this relationship. Something was different in him. Seeing him made me want to have a better relationship and be a better Christian. No, I wasn’t praying for a husband but I prayed for someone to walk with me on my new journey. I wanted and needed encouragement and support. I always had that little voice telling me I would marry him and I knew if I were to be a reflection of him I needed to continue to immerse myself in the word. Growing in Christ with him is such a blessing. I say this because we are still growing and learning together, 6 years of marriage later. I was young in Christ and Josh was there. We went to bible study together, choir rehearsal together, he would pick me up before service to ride with him. He quickly became my best friend before my boyfriend and then my husband.

[2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? ] I would have never met my husband had I not let the Holy Spirit led me back to church where I belonged. I was too of the world to be the equally yoked woman he desired. I had to grow to become in the world and not of the world. Some ask how were we members of the same church our whole lives and not know each other? To that I say, God was preparing us to be equally yoked. There were things that were necessary for us to complete before we met. Just like when God took the Israelite’s into the promise land when they left Egypt, instead of the short way Jacob took to get to Egypt. God was preparing the newly free Israelite’s to be His nation. He needed to establish a relationship with them before they went into the promise land. God knew by sending them the short way this was hindering that relationship he desired. They would have had to go through warring lands. God could have easily destroyed the enemy in their path but he knew his people were unprepared and not mature enough in their faith.

In my case God also needed to establish a relationship with me before I could be in a relationship with my husband. I wasn’t always the woman my husband prayed for but by Gods grace I became that woman when it was time. You may feel you are already the woman a man is praying for but maybe God is still taking the man you are praying for on the long journey to become the one he has kept for you. When it’s time you will know, trust me. Until then continue to love the Lord and be encouraged.

Removing the rope

God knows the difference between our wants & needs... Trust God. Click To Tweet

Earlier today my nephew Logan decided that he wanted to take a jump rope and wrap it around his neck, I’m not sure what made him wrap the rope around his neck in fact even when I questioned him on his actions his response was because ” It was his rope”  I instantly saw how dangerous it was for a child to even have a jump rope at such a young let alone play with it unsupervised, that I urgently went to rescue him from potentially harming himself.  Logan wasn’t a very happy camper about this decision.  He decided to have a temper tantrum kicking and screaming demanding the rope back. It reminded me of how sometimes God will close doors on situations, take us away from dangerous relationship, friendships. How sometimes he yank us from life threatening situations and set us in the ” green pastures { Psalms 23}” while our flesh kicks and screams for things that God purged us from. God gives us confirmation that he isn’t taking us away from dangerous situations because he doesn’t want for us to have fun, just  like how Logan thought it was “fun” to play with this rope. How sometimes we think its “fun” to play with fire not expecting to be burnt from the fire but,  God cares so much about us that he wouldn’t be the GREAT I AM THAT I AM  if he allowed  us to sit and play with death. Where God is sending you…

God is sending you out to a nation that’s awaiting on a word from God.

Are you willing to carry the message to Gods children?

God is sending you out with a message, will you deliver it? Click To Tweet

Remember those nights where you cried out to be sent wherever God needs you?  Or.. To be used by God? Well its deployment time. God has heard your request and He says ” Its Time”. God is sending you out to a nation that needs rebuilding. See God’s name along with his character has been defiled and He needs for you to uplift his name again. He needs your help to rebuild his true integrity of who He is and what he actually died for. God doesn’t want for any of his children to go into the lake of fire so he needs your help and preaching his name, spreading the goodness of him & pushing souls back unto him. God is sending you out a generation that has become so self-absorbed; that they aren’t willing to sacrifice anything to be in his presence. Its says in Philippians 2:8 that

Riding the fence

Am I Lukewarm Within my walk with God? Click To TweetAs I sit straddling the fence of wanting to live for Jesus I sometimes have this faint desire to satisfy my flesh. Lord, I know I must love one and hate the other but, how do I combat this thirst I have to drink from the fountain of flesh. I ride this fence torn between the two. I want to live for you but, I’m torn because my flesh rules over me. I hate to admit that sometimes I fall into submission to this desire. I am stuck riding this fence. Read more

The 3 Components

God asks us as believers to have three things:
Faith
Complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
Obedience
Compliance with an order, request, or law or submission to another authority
Confidence
The state of feeling certain about the truth of something.

These things may seem easy but we all know that life makes them almost impossible.
I personally struggle with these simple guidelines on a daily basis. I have to constantly be at God’s feet asking for strength.

One of my favorite stories in the bible comes from the book of Matthews, chapter eight starting on verse 23. The scripture says:

Then Jesus got into the boat and started across the lake with his disciples. 24 Suddenly, a fierce storm struck the lake, with waves breaking into the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”
26 Jesus responded, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm.
27 The disciples were amazed. “Who is this man?” they asked. “Even the winds and waves obey him!”

The part that got to me the most was that God was asking his disciples why they have little faith. Imagine if you were in that position. The King of kings is asking YOU, why your faith is so little. I would be crying and asking for forgiveness in a heartbeat.
God is like the wind. You can’t see him but you feel him, so you know he’s there. The disciples had the honor to see and feel him. But they still didn’t fully trust God.
This brings me to the topic of obedience.

1 Corinthians 15:58 says,
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

To know God’s command and following it requires you to read the Word. That is a way he is able to communicate to us what we need to do on this earth. Others think that life is just about living and doing what we want to do. But that is not the case. The life we are living is not for us it is to glorify God. We are on a mission to bring souls back to the Father and the only way to do so is to be obedient.
In having faith and being obedient, you need confidence. A little swag to your walk. We are sons and daughters of a KING. His word will never fail.

Another favorite scripture of mine is Psalms 27:1,

The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread?

When you know who are you and WHOSE you are, nothing should phase you. You should wake up in the morning with a smile on your face ready to take on the world. You know your Father in heaven has a plan for your life and you will walk in victory. He has given you the authority on Earth. With him, all things are possible (Phil. 4:13).

I know it is difficult to keep these in mind when life is coming at you hard. But know that the enemy has no power over you. God never says no. It’s either “not yet” or “I have something better.” Stand firm in your faith.
With love,
N.

You’re Not A Nobody

You Are Not A Nobody.

Author: Harriee X.

Have you ever walked into a room of people, who were supposed to be your friends and felt like an outcast? Somebody in the background? Felt like you don’t matter or whatever you said, was not being heard? Where you felt like that tree, in the play, no one wanted to be?

I have.

I didn’t feel like I was special, or if something happened to me, anyone would care. It can be very hard to see what we are worth or that we are even worth anything, when you’re constantly ignored or not seen for who you really are. To the person reading this post: You are not a nobody! To the person who doesn’t have many friends: You are not a nobody! To the person who ends up being the tree in the play: You too, are not a nobody!

You are in fact God’s somebody! Romans 9:25-26 says that, those who are called nobodies will be made somebody. Those who are unloved, will become loved.

‘I will call them “my people” who are not my people:

and I will call her “my beloved one” who is

not my loved one. And, ‘In the very place where it was said to them,

“You are not my people,” there they will be called “children of the

living God.”’ Romans 9:25-26 NIV

Did you see that?! You are not a nobody! You are not how others see you or what they say about you behind your back. You are someone God calls beloved. Children of the living God.

In the very places where they call our “You’re nobody!” or treat you like it, they are actually calling you ‘God’s Living Children’ Lysa Terkeurst

This is also found in Hosea 1:10.

‘Nobody’ noun + pronoun, according to the Cambridge dictionary means, not anyone or someone who is not important. But, the word ‘nobody’, is nowhere to be found in God’s dictionary. He didn’t create nobodies, because He knows YOU. He knows when you sit and when you rise. He is familiar with all your ways. If you really were a nobody, He wouldn’t care about the thoughts you have or the words you say. He deeply cares about your opinions; He cares about how you see yourself and if you walk into that room, with your head held high. He does!

God chose Jacob who was insecure, Zacchaeus who was unpopular & God chose you.

Get this; Zacchaeus was unpopular, a cheater and a sinner, yet Jesus called him by his name and insisted to stay at his house. In front of everyone! And this led to a change of heart. God knows your name. He knew you before you were even born and knew the steps you were going to take. If Jesus can pick an unpopular tax collector, then He has surely chosen you too.

You are so loved and significant; you now just need to embrace how Gods sees you. What about those days when you do feel like a nobody?

Say these 3 phrases out loud — I am not a Nobody! I am a somebody! God’s somebody!

Do you feel better? Say it every day, before you go out and hold your head up high.

Prayer:

Lord, thank you for the amazing people reading this post. I pray that You touch their hearts to know and keep close to them, that they are loved by You. That because You are worthy, they are also worthy. And most importantly, that they belong to You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Walk Into Freedom

I sat at Jesus feet filled with emptiness, so badly yearning to be freed from the bondage I was presently entangled in. Freedom seemed as if it was within my reach  but, still so far away. I cried out Jesus save me,  free me from this imprisonment of sinful behaviors, rejection, depression I so badly want to be with you. My soul screamed out that it was tired of bowing down in submission to sin, guilt & misery. God compassionately answered me and said” Its time that my people are free”.  See- Its been a declaration signed that all of God’s children has suffered enough pain that has been brought upon by the hand of the enemy. God is personally removing the hand of the enemy that has embodied his children lives, that has taunted them  into fear; God is saying its time to walk in freedom. Read more

Compromising Your Faith.

Throughout life we face situations that challenge our beliefs, from being struck with obstacles that life bring upon we harbor upon the thought of compromising. We tend to believe compromising is our only best option when push comes to shove. We compromise ourselves into a relationship that wasn’t structured around God and find ourselves getting hurt or maybe we took a job out of desperation or disobedience. We all have been in similar situations as these, little do we know we settle more often than we tend to believe but, God is looking for people who aren’t negotiating their faith. Who aren’t compromising  the true essence of who they’re and the love they have for God.

How would you be found in this season?

The month of January has been difficult for me hence the reason on the late posting. I found myself walking through snow and slipping on ice due to my car failing on me, along with someone draining my bank account. I cried out how much more? I felt myself breaking and crumbling and I remembered this vow I made with God that I would never curse him or speak badly on him, I felt as if I was a modern-day Job. As I walked in the cold I prayed that even if my situation doesn’t change I will be found rejoicing through this season. I ask you how would God find you in this current season you’re currently in? Will you be  found rejoicing or complaining?
