Finding your passion & purpose may honestly be one of the hardest sorts out questions.

If I could be honest with you guys for a second, In my 21 years of living, I have encountered and faced so many adversities; from struggling with suicidal thoughts and battling with low self-esteem that it was hard to believe that I had purpose.

So I wanted to construct a step-by-step guide that helped me to find my purpose and live a purposeful life.

Pin me for later!

4 things to do to find your purpose in life

Before we dive deeper into figuring out your purpose, lets first define what “purpose” is.

We define purpose as the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists. The purpose was placed inside of you when the creator created you.

As long as you still have breath in your body, you still have a purpose here on earth, and that is something to rejoice about!

We are all called and created to worship, love, and help one another. Everyone has a purpose, but not everyone has the same life calling or assignment on their lives, and that is ok.

Something to rest in before we go into the tips is the fact that you have a specific assignment on your life that goes beyond what people around you may see. You may see yourself as a failure because you haven’t figured out your life purpose yet, but God sees you as victorious. Your family may see you as a mistake, but God sees you as a blessing.

Jeremiah 29:11- “For I know the plans I have for you declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

1. Spend time with God.

Spend time with your creator. What better way to know why you were created then to spend time with your creator? So simple yet we make it so hard.

It is through intimate time with God that you will be able to identify your purpose. The more time you spend soaking in God’s presence, the more he will give you the knowledge, wisdom, encouragement, and boost your self-confidence to go out and live a purposeful life.

And I am speaking to myself when I say all this, For us to know what we’re called to do, we must SEEK the one who created us.

2. Fast & Pray

Start to be specific in your prayer time. Ask God, “God, what is my purpose?” “God tell me what you created me to do so I can be sure I do it” “God, allow me to see myself the way you see me.”

Go on a fast and put an assignment on this quick. “Lord, after this fast, I believe I will be able to

hear clearly what it is I was placed on this earth to do.” NOW- start your fast!

The fast is specific for you, what will you sacrifice?

How long will you surrender it?

Regardless of what your answers to these questions are, be sure you are spending time to pray, worship, and seek God’s face throughout this fast to ensure your ears and heart is open to receive what God is speaking to you.

Take Action!

After hearing from God immediately take action! Don’t sit in denial and talk yourself out of what God spoke to you concerning your purpose.

Talk with a pastor, a mentor, or someone that can help push you into the position to fulfill this purpose.

3. Surround yourself with people who are walking in purpose.

Surround yourself with people who are on a similar assignment. (Bloggers connect with bloggers, business owners join with business owners, etc.)

Begin to disconnect yourself from people and things that don’t agree or come into alignment with the plan God has for you.

Those friends that are always negative? Have to go!

That draining relationship? Must go!

In Mark chapter 2, Jesus healed a paralyzed man because of the faith his friends had, what makes you think the people you are hanging around does not matter?

You must connect yourself with like-minded individuals that can stand in faith with you as you begin to walk on your journey of purpose!

4. Dismiss fear.

Now it’s time to speak against fear, shame, and anything that will try to block you from walking into your purpose!!

I stand in the gap for you reading this and say that you WILL walk in purpose, you WILL go forth with authority, you WILL be everything that God has called you to be!!

I come against everything and every trick of the enemy that may try to block you and discourage you

from your purpose!!

I uproot and destroy every seed of discouragement and doubt that has been planted!!

You will walk forward with the victory.

Believe in yourself!!! You got this!!

I’m here to help if you need it.

Reach out to me if you need to! I’m praying for you, and I know that just as the word declares, all things are working together for your good!!
